Meet Cynthia A. Sudor

Author and Publisher

Cynthia Sudor grew up in Hershey, Pennsylvania, loving animals and nature. These are evident in her award-winning children’s book series, Adventures at Green Apple Acres. It was her dream when she was a young girl, reading the horse books of author Marguerite Henry, to become a children’s author. She also dreamed of having a farm of her own at the foot of the mountains, like the place where she rode horses as a young girl at a family friend’s farm. She achieved both of these goals, and more.

Cynthia graduated from Drexel University and was honored to receive two prestigious awards from the university: Alumni of the Year, the Rankin-Epstein Award from her college, and the university-wide Harriet E. Worrell Award for professional achievement and public service.

She worked at Hershey Entertainment & Resort Company, right after college, as the first woman hired in middle management. After seventeen years, and promotions that led to the only woman on the executive staff of Hersheypark/Arena/Stadium, she left to start her own business, Cynthia A. Sudor Enterprises/Cynergy Marketing.

Cynthia took a short sabbatical from her business to serve as a Founding Vice President of Sales & Marketing for the Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts, Harrisburg, PA. This $52.7 million facility was the first of its kind.

Cynthia has received numerous awards, among them the two awards mentioned above from Drexel University, as well as the Pennsylvania 50 Best Women in Business Award, the Pennsylvania 25 Women of Influence Award, the first recipient of the Spirit of Children Award presented by the Progressive Education of Children in the Arts Network (PECAN) for her support of the Celebration of Children event, including children with disabilities and without disabilities performing the arts. She also received the Best Seminar Award from the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA), Annual Convention, Dallas, TX. The IAAPA has a membership of more than 100 countries.

In addition to her marketing business and career, she achieved her goal of writing a children’s book series, Adventures at Green Apple Acres. This series is about animals that overcome challenges on a farm, learning valuable life lessons. The five stories in each book have a moral and theme to them. There are interactive questions at the end of each story. Photos of the real animals and humans in the stories are featured in the back of the book. Both Book One and Book Two received the Executive Women International (EWI) Literacy Select Award, Book One in Dallas, TX, and Book Two in San Diego, CA. The series continues. Although targeted to 8 to 12 year olds, younger children enjoy the stories being read to them and the beautiful illustrations.

With Book Three, Adventures at Green Apple Acres, Christmas on the Farm, Cynthia created her own publishing company, CARACYN Publishing LLC. In addition to her own books, she now publishes the books of other Authors.

Cynthia recalls from her earliest memories her passion for horses, even drawing pictures of horses. She shared a love of horseback riding with her father, Milan Sudor, a Pennsylvania State Policeman. With her father and mother, Mary, her sister, Janet, and brother, Rick, growing up included swimming, canoeing and picnics at Mt. Gretna, walks in beautiful Pennsylvania State Parks and playing baseball with neighborhood children in the fields in her neighborhood. Her first dog was a toy collie named Tina. Spending time with family friends in Weston, PA, inspired her dream to have her own farm with horses someday. That dream came true, with a lot of hard work and determination.

Cynthia, her Arabian horses and ever-entertaining barn cats enjoy farm life at CARACYN Arabians at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains. She shares her home with several Shetland Sheepdogs and a kitty she rescued from her farm that she named Suri.

Cynthia loves farm life, animals and nature. She also likes to write and travel and read. She has traveled to many foreign countries and throughout the United States. She also likes to design and make jewelry. As a tribute to her Ukrainian heritage, she also creates another art, Ukrainian eggs.

Journey to Becoming
an Author

It starts with a dream, a goal, an idea…you want to write, you think you have something to share, to educate, entertain and inspire others. You have a story to tell.

That was my dream from the time I was about 8 years old. I loved to read, and I still do. I love words that are put together well to tell a story…and, I love to read a story like that. Words that flow, almost dance, in your heart and create a visual image in your mind. Imagination is critical…creativity is essential…but, what does it really take to become an author?

It takes desire, passion…and persistence…along with talent! You want it more than anything…you will work hard, do whatever it takes to get there and do it well. You will find the right people to help you, you can’t achieve your dream alone.

Do you have something that you dream of doing? Start your journey today…it takes time to make a dream come true. Don’t ever let go of that dream…with hard work, it can come true. Mine did!

My journey took a long time. As time went on, I started thinking about writing books again. I started talking about it. I would start to write, then I would stop writing. Then, I just sat down and became very serious about writing a children’s book with five stories! My children’s books finally became a reality! Success!

With hard work, and patience and persistence, anything can be accomplished…if you have a dream, pursue it…I did…and, I have achieved my dream of becoming an Author! And, of having my own farm with Arabian horses.

What is your dream? Decide what it is…you probably know what it is already. Now, how you are going to make it come true? You can do it!!!!

Live your adventure!

A Message from the Author

“My goal is that young adults identify with the real life challenges of the animals and people in each story, see the strength in getting through life’s twists and turns, learn how to achieve a successful result and gain courage and wisdom from the situation. Each story has a meaningful theme and moral. In most stories, the character or characters facing the challenge is helped by another animal or person…they succeed by others helping them. Many of the animals and people characters in the book are ones who I know. The real characters are featured in the back of each book.”
